Morning everyone!
We have a few exciting staff announcements for Pro as we add reporters to the Transportation, Trade and Energy teams.
Sabrina Rodriguez will be joining the Pro Trade team, expanding that vertical’s coverage as the trade wars continue. Sabrina got her start at POLITICO in 2015 as a participant in the POLITICO Journalism Institute. After that, she interned with us twice. She spent most of the last year as a fellow on the Pro Ag and Trade teams, breaking news on the NAFTA beat and traveling to Mexico to stalk trade ministers and cover the Mexican presidential election. A Miami native and Northwestern University grad, she has also interned at Chalkbeat New York, Miami New Times and The Miami Herald. She covered the first months of the Trump administration at Diario Perfil in Buenos Aires, Argentina.Sam Mintz is joining the transportation team, where he will anchor Morning Transportation. Sam comes to us from E&E News, where he covered energy policy here in DC. Before that he was at the Cape Cod Times, where he reported on local government, politics and crime. A native of Boston, he holds a degree in journalism and political science from Brandeis University, and claims to have grown to love DC “despite the disappointing lack of snow.”
Zack Colman will be joining energy team in mid-October. He’s most recently covered the White House, EPA and DOE at E&E News. An all-round energy policy expert, he’s dissected Washington for the Christian Science Monitor, the Examiner, The Hill and CQ/Roll Call. The Michigan native earned a journalism masters degree at the University of Illinois, and also held a Knight Science Journalism fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
