Mergermarket seeks a French M&A reporter

We are looking for a Reporter to join ION Analytics’ Paris Bureau covering French M&A and private equity activity for Mergermarket.

The successful candidate will ideally have proven experience in a financial news reporter role, with an investigative focus.

Our new France reporter will focus on unearthing scoops and providing analysis on late-stage startups’ growth and exit strategies, and SME and family-owned business succession– with a particular focus on keyregional industries central the country’s economy: the aerospace supply chain, agrifood, wellness, luxury and retail.

Fluency in French, solid writing skills in English, outstanding contact building skills and a self-starter attitude with a cooperative approach will be key for the role.

The candidate will join our global network of over 350 ION Analytics journalists. You’ll work within a fast-paced team writing scoops on significant deals involving listed and private targets across France and Europe – and providing breaking news and analysis throughout the deal cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce 15+ exclusive articles per month, breaking news on French M&A by interviewing decision makers, C-level execs, portfolio managers, bankers, lawyers and other sources
  • Build-up sources and develop an expert eye for the French primary buyout universe, primarily in the aerospace supply chain, agrifood, wellness, luxury and retail industries
  • Attend key conferences, trade fairs outside of Paris and relevant industry events in order to conduct exclusive interviews
  • Contribute to key M&A news content and analysis produced by the Paris Bureau and the wider EMEA team.
  • Produce a steady flow of copy under tight deadlines

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Should have excellent English speaking and writing skills, with fluency in French essential.
  • Well driven and tenacious
  • Able to work both on own initiative and collaboratively
  • Willing to travel to key events in the region and be eligible to work in one of the advertised offices.
