Debtwire municipal bond reporter Amante departs

Maria Amante

Maria Amante, municipal bond reporter at Debtwire, has left the company as her job was eliminated due to the pandemic.

Amante has been with Debtwire for 7 years, covering the municipal bond market, focused on the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. She also made contributions to podcasts, webinars, and spearheaded in-depth investigative reporting projects for the Debtwire Investigations team.

Before joining Debtwire, Amante was a political and watchdog reporter at Gannett Newspapers. Sometimes she also worked on general assignment stories at the company.

Amante has also interned at MLive Media Group and was a night-time general assignment reporter at Chicago Sun-Times. She has also served as a senior reporter at Central Michigan Life and was an intern at Gongwer News Service.

Amante is a B.S. in journalism and political science from Central Michigan University.
