Ally Marotti, business reporter at The Chicago Tribune covering technology and the cannabis industry, is leaving to join Crain’s Chicago Business, where she will report on consumer products, food, restaurants, retail, media and advertising.
Marotti has been with the Tribune for more than four years, joining as an innovation and technology reporter at Blue Sky, before being promoted to her current post of business reporter.
The move will mark Marotti’s return back to Crain’s Chicago, where she served as a general assignment reporter from 2014 to 2015.
Marotti has also worked as a breaking news reporter at The Cincinnati Enquirer and was a city desk intern at The Denver Post. She was also copy chief and editor-in-chief of The Lantern. Additionally, she has also served as city desk intern at The Columbus Dispatch.
Marotti holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism, comparative cultural studies and Spanish from Ohio State University.
