Skip Wollenberg, a longtime business journalist for the Associated Press, died last month at the age of 76.
He graduated from Purdue University and before retiring in 2017, he worked for the Associated Press for 45 years, in Springfield, Illinois; Memphis, Tennessee; Washington, DC, and New York.
“Skip was always the first to arrive in the morning, opening the desk and setting the tone for the day,” wrote former colleague Rachel Beck. “He guided the department through some of the biggest business stories of our time — always with steady hands, a calm presence, and quiet wisdom. We were lucky to have such a voice of reason on our side.”
