Bloomberg News chief content officer Heather Harris, head of media editorial Dave Merritt and EMEA editorial lead Jackie Simmons sent out the following on Monday:

We’re excited to announce three new assignments across digital, the UK and Business of Sports.

*Vic Wakely, our first UK National Editor who masterminded the launch of Bloomberg UK more than four years ago, will move into a new global role shaping editorial efforts to drive digital subscriptions. Vic has worked tirelessly to put Bloomberg journalism on the map in our second-biggest market and she’ll now apply her energy and ideas to the top priority for Media at this critical time for audience and subscription growth. Vic will report into Katie Boyce, head of digital.

*Giles Turner, Business of Sports leader for the past three and a half years, will succeed Vic as UK National Editor. Giles’s ability to leverage the global newsroom meant we were able to generate major scoops, newsmaker events and multimedia innovations with just three full-time reporters and a lot of ‘total footballing.’ He will transfer those skills to our London and Edinburgh newsrooms, driving cross-team and -platform coverage and ensuring our best work is getting the promotion it deserves. Giles will report into EMEA News Director Will Kennedy.

*We’ve asked Lucas Shaw to take over Business of Sports, which fits neatly with his global media and entertainment group, and build on what Giles started. The money pouring into sports is increasing at a rapid clip with more than $35 billion worth of deals announced so far this year. As a first step we’ll hire a team leader in New York. Please see Lucas if you’re interested and look out for the posting. Lucas will continue to report into Tom Giles, senior executive editor for global technology, in his expanded role.

Vic, Giles and Lucas will transition into their new roles over the next few weeks and will be in touch with more details on their plans with the relevant groups.
