Washington Post hires Griffith-Greene as service journalism editor

Megan Griffith-Greene

The following excerpt was sent out from The Washington Post’s head of curation and platforms Coleen O’Lear and SEO and operations editor Bryan Flaherty:

We are thrilled to announce that Megan Griffith-Greene will join The Washington Post as Service Journalism Editor. In this role, Megan will partner with reporting teams across the newsroom to identify, elevate and execute utility-focused stories that deepen readers’ relationships with The Post.

She will be tasked with building workflows and training the newsroom on best practices for creating and updating durable content that reaches new and existing audiences. She will be a key liaison with Product and Engineering as we enhance the tools that support the development and maintenance of durable service journalism. She also will work with SEO editors to ensure we have a long-term strategy that can help us attract new readers to relevant, valuable content no matter when it was published.

Megan joins us from the Philadelphia Inquirer where, as Senior Service Editor, she helped transform the culture of service journalism across the newsroom, developed product strategy and built a desk that delivers information on and insight into every part of life in the City of Brotherly Love.

Before working at the Inquirer, she spent eight years at the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., where she served in roles spanning newsletter production and strategy, audience engagement, new platform formats, feature writing and investigative research.

Please join us in welcoming Megan. She starts Aug. 15 in Washington.
