The Examiner seeks transportation reporter

The Examiner is looking for a transportation reporter who will be willing to take on a competitive beat and write high-impact stories.

You will be covering transportation and public transit issues in the San Francisco Bay area including those related to Muni, BART, bridge tolls, regulations for self-driving cars, bike lanes, SFO, major transit projects, and more.

DUTIES:

  • Owning and growing the transportation beat for The Examiner
  • Proactively and regularly pitching story ideas
  • Accurately, and relentlessly reporting and writing daily stories
  • Building sources and expertise to lead in the assigned coverage areas
  • Engaging readers on social media

SKILLS:

  • Have a proven track record of publishing well-written, accurate and meticulously reported stories
  • Be experienced in writing quickly on deadline and reporting
  • Be skilled at building trusted source
  • Possess a solid understanding of news writing
