FT correspondent Buck promoted to managing editor

Tobias Buck

Tobias Buck has been promoted to the post of managing editor at the Financial Times.

He will start his new job on Monday. Recently, he was the Berlin correspondent for the organization.

He replaces James Lamont, who has been managing editor since 2012. Lamont is becoming director of strategic partnerships of FT Group.

Buck joined FT in 2002 as a graduate trainee. A year later he was appointed as the European Union correspondent in Brussels. Then, from 2007 to 2012, he served as the FT’s Jerusalem correspondent and was then appointed as the company’s Madrid correspondent.

Buck has also worked at other notable organizations including Medium, Yahoo Finance, MSN UK, CNBC, Silicon Valley Business Journal, Irish Times, Australian Financial Review and more.

In addition, he has also been honored with numerous journalism awards, including a British Press Award and a Foreign Press Association Award.

He was also named correspondent of the year by Spain’s International Press Club. He is also the author of “After the Fall,” a book on Spain and its crisis.

Buck graduated from Humboldt University.
