NY Times names Szuchman director of audio

The New York Times has promoted Paula Szuchman to the post of director of audio. Recently, she was head of Opinion audio.

In her new role, Szuchman will be managing the teams that make podcasts. She will also be working on news and enterprise stories and will help in finding her replacement to lead Opinion audio.

Previously, Szuchman was senior director of digital content and then VP, new show development, at WNYC Radio. She was managing editor at The Daily Beast and deputy managing editor at Newsweek.

She was also with the Wall Street Journal for over 8 years, holding various posts, including reporter, Weekend Journal; deputy editor, Weekend, and news editor, Page One. She was also a travel editor at the New York Post.

Szuchman has also contributed to Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast.

Szuchman graduated from Brandeis University.
