In what seems like an unlikely combination, the Wall Street Journal has begun a blog called “Heard on the Runway” about Fashion Week, which is occurring now in New York. Later Fashion Weeks will be held at other cities.
The blog will offer tidbits on exclusive parties and events, and to one-on-one interviews with the CEOs, designers and retailers who set the agenda for the industry. The blog will also review the most trend-setting fashion shows of the week and offer photos, sketches and slideshows of design for fall 2007.
“The blog will be updated throughout the day during New York, Milan and Paris fashion weeks in February and March,” said Lisa Bannon, editor of The Wall Street Journal’s Retail and Luxury Goods Group. “It will bring the Journal’s trademark business analysis, scoops and insight to the industry’s biannual runway events.â€?
“Heard on the Runway is our latest event-driven blog, providing readers with up-to-the-minute coverage of the latest business news and fashion trends from the international runways, added Bill Grueskin, managing editor of The Wall Street Journal Online.
The Online Journal ran a series of other event-driven blogs in recent weeks on such events as the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Detroit Auto Show and the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland.
The blog will be written by the paper’s fashion and luxury goods reporters including: Teri Agins, Ellen Byron, Rachel Dodes, Vanessa O’Connell, Ray Smith and Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan.
