Bill Wilson, the Wichita Business Journal’s managing editor and a Wichita-area journalist for more than 35 years, died Wednesday morning after a three-year bout with cancer.

Kirk Seminoff of the Business Journal writes, “‘Bill really did fight the good fight over the course of a couple of years,” WBJ editor Bill Roy said. ‘When he worked, he worked hard and always had a great attitude about the Business Journal and what we do.

“‘Because we’re a small staff, we’re more like family, and the loss of a family member is difficult. But we’re grateful his pain and discomfort is finally over.’

“Wilson, who lived in Burrton, was a 1982 graduate of Bethel College and then moved into a journalism career. He was a reporter and editor at the Newton Kansan and Hutchinson News before joining the Wichita Business Journal for his first stint in 2005 and 2006.

“He joined The Wichita Eagle in 2006 as an investigative reporter and City Hall beat writer, then returned to the Business Journal in 2014.”
