Yahoo! Finance was the No. 1 financial news web site in terms of site visits and average time spent on the web site, according to August numbers released by Nielsen/Net Ratings, while Forbes.com had the most visits among business publications, according to Douglas McIntyre‘s post on 24/7 Wall Street.
Yahoo! Finance had more than 16.8 million visits in August, and the average visitor spend more than 23 minutes on the site. MSN Money was No. 2 with 12.3 million visits and an average visit of more than 19 minutes.
Among business publications, Forbes ranked first with 9.1 visits for the month. However, the average visitor spent just more than 5 minutes at the site.
The Wall Street Journal Online had 8.4 million visitors for the month, and the average reader spent 22 and a half minutes on the site.
Among wire service web sites, Reuters outranked Bloomberg. Reuters had 6.3 million visits and an average visit of 5 minutes, 25 seconds, while Bloomberg had 3.5 million visits and an average visit of 5 minutes, 26 seconds.
