Jake Swearingen, currently a technology reporter at Consumer Reports, will be leaving the organization to join Business Insider as a deputy editor.
There, he will oversee tech, retail and transportation. His new role begins Feb. 24.
Previously, he was working as a tech writer for New York Magazine. In 2015, he held the post of site director at Popular Mechanics. Before that, Swearingen served as an associate editor and digital director at The Atlantic and Modern Farmer, respectively.
He has also worked as a web editor at both LA Weekly and SF Weekly. Swearingen also held the post of senior associate editor for Livingly Media and worked as a reporter at BNET.
He also has experience working as a freelance writer and reporting intern. Moreover, he also worked as a general editorial intern at Wired magazine.
Swearingen is a B.A. in English from the University of Arkansas.
