Skift hires editor to lead Asia expansion

Skift, which covers the travel, restaurant and wellness industries, has hired an editor to be based in Singapore as part of its planned Asia expansion for 2019.

Skift has hired  veteran travel industry journalist Raini Hamdi, formerly editor of TTG Asia, as its new Skift Asia Editor, to start ground-level coverage of the travel sector in Asia.

Hamdi has been covering Asia’s travel and tourism industry for 18 years.

Skift has also hired a new head of sales in Asia, Joey Kukielka.

Kukielka is a British expat who spent nine years in Bangkok and is now in Singapore. Kukielka has been working in the luxury travel, publishing industry with Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia since early 2010, and in the capacity of sales director for the past five years.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
