Reuters journalist Akwagyiram departs

Alexis Akwagyiram

Alexis Akwagyiram, Nigeria bureau chief at Reuters, has left.

Akwagyiram had been with Reuters for over 6 years, joining as a senior Nigeria correspondent.

Previously, he has worked as a broadcast journalist and then as a multimedia journalist at BBC News. He also served as news media editor at BBC Media Action.

Akwagyiram has also freelanced for the Guardian Group and was a news reporter at the Evening Standard. He was also a trainee news reporter at the Nottingham Evening Post.

Akwagyiram is a M.A. in journalism studies from the University of Sheffield.
