NY Times biz reporter Flitter’s beat moves to other financial firms

Emily Flitter

New York Times banking reporter Emily Flitter is expanding her beat to cover other financial firms and their impact on society.

“There’s no doubt we live in interesting times,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’ll be looking at issues of racism, the question for equality, the effects of innovation and more.”

Flitter has been working on a book on racism in the financial system. The book, which does not yet have a title or a release date, will be published by One Signal, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

Flitter has been at the Times since late 2017. She previously worked at Reuters, where she covered everything from the Treasury market and the Trump campaign to climate change policy and big agribusiness.

She previously did stints at Barron’s Online, WSJ.com and American Banker, and covered white-collar crime for three years.
