Economist taps Avent as trade and international economics editor

Ryan Avent

Ryan Avent has been named trade and international economics editor at The Economist.

Previously, he was senior editor and economics columnist, writing the Free Exchange column. Avent has been with The Economist for 14 years.

His work has also appeared in Medium, The Guardian, Washington Post, Time Magazine, MIT Technology Review, Evening Standard, Politico Europe and more.

Avent earned his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University.
