Michael Martinez, the Ford Motor Co. reporter at the Detroit News, has joined Automotive News covering the car maker.
Martinez had been at the News since 2012, joining the paper first as an intern and then as a business reporter covering all aspects of business in Metro Detroit with an emphasis on writing for the web. He became the Ford reporter in June 2014.
He is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy, where he was editor of the student newspaper, The Varsity News. He now serves as an advisor to the paper.
While in college, Martinez also worked at WXYZ TV, Fox SportsDetroit.com and MLB.com.
He was named Young Journalist of the Year by the Society of Professional Journalists’ Detroit chapter earlier this year.
