CNBC makes changes in international news ops

CNBC announced Thursday some changes to its international news operations as part of the network’s wider strategy to transition into a multi-platform global news provider.

Michael Kearns, head of news and programming for Asia Pacific, has been promoted to vice president, international digital and head of news and programming, Asia Pacific.

Kearns will be responsible for devising and driving the network’s digital product and content offerings outside the United States.

Patrick Allen, currently head of news and programming EMEA, has been named vice president, international managing editor, a new position.

The role will assume responsibility for all news desk activities and reporting across Asia Pacific and EMEA. Allen will be charged with building and developing CNBC’s editorial prowess in key emerging markets and its ongoing collaboration with CNBC US and NBC News.

Allen will be replaced by Noelle Murbach-Lami, who joined CNBC in 2006 and currently acts as executive producer for CNBC’s flagship show, “Squawk Box,” and its popular morning show, “Street Signs.”

In addition, Neelabh Chaturvedi, a senior member of CNBC’s digital team in Singapore, will move to a newly created role of newsroom strategy director, international, with responsibility for developing data-centric strategies for CNBC’s editorial products and services.
