Katie Drummond, who had been assistant managing editor at The Verge, has been hired as a deputy editor at Bloomberg Businessweek.
She started her new job this week.
Drummond had been the AME for the tech news site for seven months. Before that, she was the science editor at The Verge, launching Verge Science, the first new section at The Verge since the publication’s inception in 2011.
She was also a founding staff member of News Corp.’s The Daily, the first-ever daily news publication for iPads and other mobile devices. And she covered military research on Wired‘s defense blog, Danger Room, and previously worked at AOL News, where she reported on science and health news.
Drummond has also done freelance work for New Republic, New York Magazine, Popular Science, The Fix, Forbes, Global Post, Marie Claire and several other national outlets.
Earlier this year, Josh Topolsky, the co-founder of the The Verge, joined Bloomberg as the editor of a series of new online ventures it is launching as part of a revamped journalism strategy. Another former staffer at The Daily, Kyle Stock, is an associate editor at Bloomberg Businessweek.
