Politico journalist Dana Nickel is now covering cybersecurity and anchoring the “Morning Cyber” newsletter.
She has been a digital producer. She has worked at Politico since February 2023 and previously was a digital producer and assignment editor at FOX23 News in Tulsa, Okla. Nickel is a 2021 graduate of George Mason University’s communication program with an academic focus in journalism.
While enrolled at George Mason, she served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, Fourth Estate.
Her start in journalism came as a reporting intern with The Globe Post in Washington, D.C. There, Dana covered Congress and immigration. She also previously worked as an election stringer for the Associated Press, covering election results in Virginia and Georgia during the 2020 election cycle.
