Melanie Dickinson, the publisher of the Birmingham Business Journal, is leaving the paper to become the publisher of the South Florida Business Journal.
Craig Ey of the Birmingham paper writes, “The company has not yet named a new publisher for the Birmingham Business Journal.
“Dickinson, 40, was advertising director of the BBJ from 1999 until she was named publisher in 2003. She was raised in the Miami area and still has family in South Florida.
“‘Birmingham will always be a very special place to me,’ she said. ‘It’s truly become my home. This is a wonderful community. My children were born here, and I’ve made many lifelong friends.’
“In South Florida, Dickinson is replacing veteran Publisher Gary Press, who was named publisher of American City Business Journals’ NASCAR publications.”
