The Tampa Bay Times has tapped Nicolas Villamil to cover sports business.
He has been a general assignment reporter since joining the Florida publication in October 2025. During that time, he played a role in reporting on the Tampa Bay Rays’ pursuit of a billion-dollar public subsidy for a stadium as part of one of the largest projects ever proposed in the region.
Villamil interned at Newsday.
He is a graduate of Vassar College.
