St. Louis Biz Journal starting a podcast

The St. Louis Business Journal is starting a regular podcast, writes editor in chief Erik Siemers.

Siemers reports, “To have an impact in this business you need to be relevant in the eyes of your audience. That means you have to meet them where they are, and in how they consume the news. And for that, you have to be in the ears of your audience.

“A report published last year by Edison Research said 67% of Americans 12 and older listened to a podcast in 2023. Nearly 100 million people in the U.S. listen to podcasts weekly, according to Edison’s ‘The Infinite Dial’ report.

“The last presidential election cycle showed that campaigns understood this, too: both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris drew headlines for participating in long interviews with popular podcast hosts.

“The Arch City Report isn’t designed to be an interview show. Each week, I’ll be joined with the journalists on my staff to discuss some of their latest work, taking our readers behind the scenes of what went into the stories, why we did them and what they can learn from them.”
