Sports Business Journal has tapped Alex Silverman as a staff reporter, covering the world of hockey and soccer. He returns to the Journal in Charlotte, where he was a staff writer for Sports Business Daily from 2013 to 2017.
He has also covered the media industry at CableFax and recently, covered the sports business as a senior reporter at Morning Consult. Silverman has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Chris Smith, who has been covering the Olympics, finance, sports and entertainment, will now be covering sports finance for the Journal. In his new role, he will be focusing on team sales, debt limits, ownership rules, corporate M&A and publicly traded sports companies among other things.
He joined in 2020 from Forbes, where he was a staff writer for SportsMoney. He has also interned at C-SPAN and graduated from Hamilton College.
