Reuters special correspondent Grey is departing

Stephen Grey

Stephen Grey, a special correspondent on the global enterprise team for Reuters in London, is leaving for a new opportunity.

He began his career on the Eastern Daily Press in England and worked for many years for the Sunday Times, London, including as a foreign correspondent and as editor of the newspaper’s Insight investigative team. He went on to report as a freelancer for, among other publications, The New York Times, The Guardian, Le Monde Diplomatique, as well as BBC Television’s “Newsnight,” BBC Radio 4, Channel 4 “Dispatches,” and PBS and ABC News in the US.

He is best known for his exclusive revelations on the CIA’s program of “extraordinary rendition,” reports into fraud and mismanagement at the European Commission, as well as investigations in the conflict zones of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Grey is author of two books: “Ghost Plane”, an account of the CIA rendition program, and “Operation Snakebite” (published as “Into the Viper’s Nest” in the US), on the war in Helmand, Afghanistan. His most recent film was “Kill/Capture” for PBS Frontline.

He has won several awards, including the Overseas Press Club award in 2006 for human rights reporting and the Kurt Schork Award for International Reporting  in 2010.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
