Megan Davies, U.S. finance and markets editor at Reuters, sent out the following:

I am very pleased to announce that Douglas Gillison will be joining us on Monday Jan. 9 as U.S. Financial Regulation Correspondent, based in D.C.

Douglas will cover the major financial regulators – primarily the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – as part of our broader Global Finance & Markets team.

Douglas has a background in white-collar crime, corruption and human rights reporting. He was most recently senior investigator for Democratic Republic of Congo at The Sentry, a Washington-based transparency organization dedicated to cutting the links between illicit finance and armed conflict. He was previously a Washington economics correspondent at Agence France-Presse and also served as executive editor of The Cambodia Daily, where he produced investigations into the Khmer Rouge trials, corruption and national security matters.

Douglas will be reporting to Michelle Price. Please welcome him to Reuters!

All the best, Megan
