The secret to getting scoops is asking good questions. Early in my career, I worked on camera, which was good training because I would try to think of the questions that would yield the most interesting answers. It turns out people are a lot more candid off-camera than on! The best reporters don’t wait to hear about something. They are proactive and look for it.
