Colby Bermel, an energy and environment reporter for Politico California, has left the news organization.
He has been chronicling climate change in the world’s fifth-largest economy. He is a 2022 fellow at the Clean Energy Leadership Institute, an Oakland-based nonprofit organization training young professionals across the energy economy.
Bermel is also an alumnus of Columbia University’s Energy Journalism Initiative and the University of Texas’ Energy Journalism Workshop.
Before joining Politico in January 2019, when its Sacramento bureau launched, he covered the Southeast energy industry for S&P Global and chemical safety regulation for E&E News.
