
Philana Patterson has left The Wall Street Journal to join BDC Strategy Group as a senior communication consultant.
She has been head of news audio at The Journal.
Before that, Patterson was part of The Journal’s Standards team, where she has worked with many of you as she contributed to a number of projects, from “The Facebook Files” to the Tulsa Project.
Before joining the Journal, Patterson worked at USA Today, as managing editor of Money & Consumer Tech leading coverage across digital, print, video and audio. In that role, she oversaw the launch of newsletters, video series and led a Gannett-wide multi-platform project commemorating the passage of the 19th Amendment.
Prior to joining USA Today, she was assistant business editor at The Associated Press helping to oversee global business and financial coverage and served as a member of the AP Style Book Committee. Early in her career, she was a retail reporter at Dow Jones Newswires.
Patterson is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
