Louisville Biz First hires Stinnett as senior reporter

Nashville Business Journal senior reporter Joel Stinnett has been hired by its sister paper, Louisville Business First, to be its senior reporter.

He will start June 12.

Stinnett has been with the Nashville paper since September 2017 and covers health care and banking.

His 2021 investigation into the collapse of Bridge Connector was part of the Nashville Business Journal’s SABEW Best in Business Awards General Excellence submission, for which the paper  received an honorable mention.

Stinnett previously worked for Louisville Business First and also was a reporter and designer for the News and Tribune in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He studied journalism at Indiana University’s Southeast campus in New Albany, where he was editor of the student newspaper.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
