Gaffney becomes lead writer for STAT News’ “Morning Rounds” newsletter

Theresa Gaffney

Theresa Gaffney is now the lead writer for the “Morning Rounds” newsletter at STAT News.

She has been a reporter and podcast producer at STAT. She covers health care, new research, and public policy, with a particular interest in mental health, gender-affirming care, and LGBTQ+ patient communities.

She also has been writing the “Morning Rounds” newsletter on Mondays and produces all of STAT’s podcasts: The Readout LOUD, First Opinion Podcast, and Color Code.

Gaffney holds a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and a master’s degree from CUNY’s Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
