FT’s Spiegel joins ICFJ board

Peter Spiegel

The International Center for Journalists announced that Peter Spiegel, U.S. managing editor of the Financial Times, has joined its board of directors.

Spiegel currently leads FT’s news operations in the Americas, steering coverage and helping to expand FT’s subscriber base in the region. He previously ran editorial operations for FT as news editor, based out of London, and served as bureau chief in Brussels for six years.

Over a journalism career that spans more than three decades, Spiegel has delivered in-depth coverage of U.S. and European politics and economics, including the eurozone crisis, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and more. In addition to the FT, he has worked at the Los Angeles Times, Forbes and The Wall Street Journal.

“We are thrilled to welcome to our board Peter Spiegel, a news leader with vast experience in journalism that crosses borders,” said Carrie Budoff Brown, chair of the ICFJ board of directors and senior vice president for politics at NBC News. “He not only brings deep expertise, but a sincere passion for ICFJ’s mission serving a global network of journalists.”
