WNYC has appointed Audrey Cooper as the company’s new editor-in-chief, reports Politico.
Cooper recently stepped down as editor-in-chief of San Francisco Chronicle which she joined in 2006 as assistant metro editor.
Cooper has also served on numerous company boards, including Global Mentor Network, The Poynter Institute, News Leaders Association, Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund and American Society of News Editors.
She has also worked as an environment reporter and metro editor at The Record. She also worked at The Associated Press and Tri-Valley Herald.
Cooper graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science.
