Reno-based Northern Nevada Business Weekly, the only business-to-business newspaper in the region, is looking for a full-time reporter.
Applicants must have experience covering business news, writing engaging, accurate stories on deadline, know AP Style and adhere to SEO practices. Candidates must also know their way around social media and creating content for the various channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Writing stories, shooting photographs and supporting video for multiple products and projects;
- Posting content online, including through social media channels, adhering to SEO and other best digital practices;
- Writing and filing a minimum of 10 well-written, bylined stories and/or sidebars per average week along with photographs to illustrate for print and website;
- Understanding that the media business doesn’t always fall into a 9-5 schedule and being willing/able to cover happenings on nights and weekends as needed;
- Active participation in planning sessions and weekly team meetings;
- Pitching in wherever necessary with team-focused attitude;
- Contributing content to special sections, as assigned;
- Adhering to and following the newsroom workflow to meet all deadlines;
- Being a champion for accuracy; and
- Other duties as outlined and required by the editor and/or publisher.
