MarketWatch seeks an editor with an intuitive feel for the essence of stories and why people share them. This editor’s mission will be optimize our journalism for social media, and seize opportunities to jump on trending topics.
The ideal candidate should be a web-obsessed storyteller with an interest in money, finance, and the power of markets.
This editor should eat, sleep, and tweet social media, and be a fount of ideas for leading its conversations. Based in our New York newsroom the day-to-day tasks could be anything from working closely with editors on setting the news agenda to partnering with our graphics team to build informative infographics and interactives that engage our readers and their friends.
The job will also mean rethinking headlines or switching out art to help a story resonate with readers.
You’ll assist in manning our institutional social media accounts. We’ll be looking to this editor to ramp up our day by promoting our best stuff and telling us what’s popping ahead of the opening bell. The editor will also be leaned on to expand our social reach by posting on and partnering with emerging social networks like BBM, Ello and more to build our audience.
