Newcomer seeks a senior reporter and event host

Newcomer is looking for a reporter with a demonstrated track record of getting notable financial scoops who has the charisma and expertise to emcee 200-person events for Silicon Valley insiders.

Newcomer is leveling up.

We just announced that we’re on track to generate more than $1 million in profit off of more than $2 million in revenue this year. We have more than 100,000 free subscribers and host top insider AI summits (you can read our recent newsletter post talking about this here).

We are looking for a reporter who loves covering startups and venture capital, who enjoys writing about money and powerful people, who is always on the phone with sources, and who is at ease on stage. $200,000 – $300,000, full-time, remote.

You’ll have two primary responsibilities in this job:

  1. Breaking news and writing compelling stories about what’s happening in startups and venture capital
  2. Emceeing and booking speakers for an annual event that we will build around you.

We want a top reporter who is hungry for more. You’ll be the third reporter on our team, alongside Eric Newcomer and Madeline Renbarger. Jonathan Weber, the former editor-in-chief of the Industry Standard and the SF Standard, will be your editor.

There’s a lot to love about this job if you’re ambitious. Your stories will go directly to the inboxes of top tech industry leaders. You can write for people who get it without watering down your stories for a general audience. You will have a chance to experiment with voice. You can write in first person, weigh-in with analysis, and offer your opinion when it’s merited. Ultimately we want someone who is always on the phone with sources.
