The Dallas Business Journal seeks an experienced digital producer to oversee and lead coverage at the premier source for local business news in North Texas.
The digital producer is responsible for day-to-day management of DallasBusinessJournal.com, including directing content, organizing daily email newsletters and deploying news resources across all digital platforms. In addition to being organized, competitive and conceptual, the digital producer must also:
As one of the newsroom’s leaders, the digital producer also brings the ability to make snap judgments about the proper treatment of stories. The digital producer will also be expected to execute and revise the strategic plan for DallasBusinessJournal.com as he/she sees fit.
The perfect candidate for this position detests micromanagement. The digital producer embraces the freedom to make decisions rapidly and independently, while fearlessly operating in one of the most competitive business news markets in the nation.
We use an in-house CMS (similar to WordPress) that interfaces with 43 other American City Business Journals newspapers and sites. The DBJ, located in Uptown, offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package rarely found in journalism these days.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and at least 2 years of experience in a digital news environment. Editing experience, preferably with business news, is also required. Video production is also a plus, but not mandatory.
This isn’t an entry-level position, but recent college graduates with a suitable mix of business news experience demonstrated through select internships (Dow Jones, Bloomberg or major metro daily) are also encouraged to apply.
