CNNMoney seeks senior writer

The CNNMoney team is looking for a senior writer. This person will news gather and write business news articles. The senior writer will also be responsible for source-development, developing enterprise story ideas, and will be expected to develop a subject expertise in areas of business news.

What will you be doing?  

  • Researches, writes and revises material in assigned subject area(s)
  • Report and write high impact news, features and analyst stories of consistently high standard, appropriate for assigned products and programs
  •  Introduce ideas for multimedia features.
  • Keeps current in assigned areas.
  • Bring deep knowledge and beat expertise
  • Work with Editors on product innovation.
  • Interacts with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization
  • Researches and develops new information sources, and maintains and enhances a well-established source network
  • Mentors less experienced members of the team

What do we need from you?

  • 5 or more years of progressively complex related experience preferred
  • College degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Beat expertise helpful
  • Proficient in social media
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities
  • Strong editorial judgement

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
