Cheddar is looking for a creative, organized, and hardworking writer who can create attention-grabbing headlines, descriptions and copy that drive views.
The news writer will clip segments, write SEO-friendly headlines, descriptions and articles for the most newsworthy and interesting portions of our livestreamed content.
This person is responsible for choosing the content that best showcases and promotes Cheddar’s image on cheddar.com and our app, as well as on Twitter. This job requires strong editorial judgment and writing skills as well as basic video editing skills.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying and cutting 5-8 video clips daily.
- Write 5-8 articles based on the most newsworthy live interviews of the day.
- Write creative copy to draw viewers to watch and engage with Cheddar content.
- Publish daily newsletter which requires identifying “best of” segments that highlight that day’s top guests on Cheddar.
- Understand the core of Cheddar, and successfully translate that to informative and entertaining short-form programming.
Requirements:
- Ability to write clean copy quickly without the need to be heavily edited
- Strong news judgement and a passion for business and tech news.
- Ability to write SEO-friendly headlines and knowledge of current SEO best-practices
- Familiarity with CMS workflow and tagging procedures
- Familiarity with editing software, SnappyTV preferred.
- Working knowledge of production and post-production techniques.
- Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
