CBS MoneyWatch seeks writer/producer

CBSNews.com is seeking a writer/video producer for its MoneyWatch section. Duties include 1) writing and editing stories for a national audience that wants to know how the latest financial news affects their lives as consumers, workers and investors; 2) creating video, graphics and social media assets to enhance story coverage and shareability, and 3) managing MoneyWatch’s home page and topic pages to drive traffic and engagement while maintaining the integrity and reputation of CBS News.

The ideal candidate will have excellent news judgment, strong writing and editing skills, and a proven ability to craft and shape stories that matter to mass audiences through text, video and graphics.

The role requires the ability to multi-task in a digital newsroom environment that values teamwork and appreciates colleagues who handle daily deadline pressures with aplomb. An understanding of SEO best practices and facility with social media are essential.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
At least four years experience in journalism (or a journalism-related field)
Must successfully pass a background check.Preferred:
Master’s degree in journalism

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
