Bloomberg seeks senior editor in London

Bloomberg Digital is looking for a senior news editor based in the UK to join the editorial team at its flagship online publication.

The role of senior news editor is a uniquely modern position that requires speed, technical know-how, and the ability to spot and assign stories. The senior news editor will lead a team in our London office that must be poised under pressure, committed to accuracy and competitive with the fastest web-based news sources.

Responsibilities:
-Lead the editorial team focused on the global site in the UK.
-Monitor news feeds and social media for breaking news.
-Manage a team of news editors who assign quick-twitch / short-lead news hits to writers and see them through from assignment to publication.
-Work with social media editors to effectively share stories with the world.
-Identify developing or breaking news that warrants deeper reporting and collaborate with reports editors to see coverage through.
-Coordinate with front-page editors on curation of home page and sub pages.
-Collaborate with Bloomberg News editors and reporters on developing stories and daily news.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
