The Artesia Daily Press, a weekly paper in southeast New Mexico, has an opening for a full-time reporter/photographer.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- We are seeking a talented writer who will be covering local crime/court and city government.
- Produce news stories that are informative and relevant to our readers
- Strong writing and language skills are desired
- Good knowledge of AP style is essential.
- Experience in page layout with Indesign is preferred but not required.
- A journalism degree and one year of reporting experience is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply

The Daily Press covers northern Eddy County. Local industries include oil and gas production, dairy, farming and ranching. Located in Artesia is the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and nearby is the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Carlsbad Caverns National Park and the Lincoln National Forest are nearby as well.
Artesia is a city of 11,000 with an above-average school system. Many residents are employed by oil and gas exploration and drilling companies. Recreational activities include biking, hunting and fishing. Skiing is nearby.
