Simone Oliver, who leads partnerships with magazines and lifestyle brands at Facebook and Instagram, will be joining Refinery29 as its new global editor-in-chief, starting September 30, reports The New York Times.
In her new role, she will oversee the company’s articles, videos, audience engagement efforts, and partnerships with clothing companies and other brands. The “global” in her title reflects the site’s offices in New York, London and Berlin.
Oliver is also an adjunct professor at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She has also worked at Conde Nast as editorial digital director.
Before that, she was with The New York Times for more than 12 years. There, she held various roles, including news assistant, fashion and styles web producer, senior fashion and styles web producer/journalist, digital fashion editor and growth strategy editor (fashion and style, travel, food, T Magazine and NYT newsletters).
Additionally, she has also interned at The New York Times Student Journalism Institute.
Oliver is a B.A. in English from Howard University.
