O’Toole named second A&S distinguished visiting journalist

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Molly O’Toole will be the next Zubrow Distinguished Visiting Journalist Fellow for the College of Arts and Sciences at Cornell University.

The Zubrow Fellows program aims to connect students, faculty and alumni to the media through moderating events, panel discussions, guest presentations and engaging with organizations on campus.

Returning to her alma mater just over a decade after graduating, O’Toole will teach an American Studies class this fall titled “The American Dream: Journalism, Politics and Identity in U.S. Immigration Policy.” She will also host career talks with students and collaborate with Cornell faculty researching immigration.

Currently, O’Toole is an immigration and security reporter at the Los Angeles Times. She has also served as an investigative reporter and investigative fellow at Investigative Reporters and Editors. She was also a foreign policy interrupted fellow at Foreign Policy Interrupted.

Additionally, she has also worked as a contributor and senior reporter at Foreign Policy and was a IWMF fellow at the International Women’s Media Foundation. She was also a politics reporter at Defense One and has worked as a news editor at The Huffington Post.

O’Toole was also an intern, reporter at Thomson Reuters and a contributor and researcher at The Nation. She has also served as a reporter at The Local East Village, NYT and was an editor/contributor at The Journal of Political Inquiry, NYU.

She has also interned at the Associated Press and Newsweek. She was also a contributor at the Cornell Alumni Magazine and a senior writer and editor at the Cornell Daily Sun. She has also served as an editorial intern, graphic design at Ink Publishing and was a columnist at The London Student.

O’Toole has also interned at USA Today and Los Angeles Magazine.

O’Toole is a B.A. in English from Cornell and a M.A. in journalism and international relations from New York University.
