The New York Times has hired Lyndsey Layton as its new deputy editor for policy on the climate desk.
Layton joins from The Washington Post where she was most recently the deputy editor on the climate and environment team. In that position she oversaw the daily report, handled breaking news and led Climate Solutions, a powerful visual series.
Prior to that, Layton was a metro politics editor and before that, she covered education, Congress and the Food and Drug Administration for The Post’s national desk.
Layton is a graduate of Wesleyan University.
