Lauren Young, a former editor at BusinessWeek, has been named the new wealth management editor at Reuters, according to an internal announcement.
Richard Baum, global editor for consumer media, wrote, “I’m pleased to announce that Lauren Young is joining Reuters as wealth management editor. Lauren is a personal finance veteran with more than 16 years of experience for publications such as BusinessWeek, SmartMoney and The Wall Street Journal.
“At Business Week, she was a department editor for the Personal Business section from 2003 to 2009. Lauren will be the editorial lead for Project Gamboge, the wealth management initiative funded by I&A and Media and led by Maria Molland. Lauren, who starts April 28, will also drive Reuters.com’s personal finance coverage. She lives in Brooklyn and tweets @LaurenYoung.”
Young is a 1989 honors graduate of Penn State University, and she received her master’s in journalism from Northwestern University in 1993. She was awarded the 2003 Northwestern University Alumni Association Service Award.
Young replaces Terri Cullen, who resigned in February after the wire was forced to pull one of her stories about a White House tax plan after numerous errors were discovered. She had been on the job for about a month.
