Sarah Paynter, a real estate reporter at Yahoo Finance, is departing on Dec. 31.
She had been at Yahoo Finance since September 2019.
Paynter has been nominated for the Yahoo Finance trailblazer award for her “Mall of the Future” article, which was Yahoo’s first interscroller article and first augmented reality experience, plus it had audio for accessibility.
Sher also started an initiative to improve the diversity of her sources by systematically tracking who she was quoting. She increased the people of color quoted to 29 percent from 21 percent, and women quoted to 39 percent from 27 percent.
She is a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she focused on business journalism. She won the Philip Greer Memorial Scholarship Fund Award for outstanding financial journalism.
Paynter received Dow Jones News Fund business reporting internship at Newsday on Long Island, where she covered millennials, employment and cost of living.
