Joann S. Lublin, management news editor at The Wall Street Journal, is retiring next month after 47 years.
In this video, she talks about obstacles she had to overcome in her career, such as a boss giving her a kiss when she left her first journalism job.
“I became even more determined to prove myself in a male-dominated industry,” said Lublin, who almost left journalism but decided resistance was better.
Lublin was the first women to run a bureau at The Journal. She also was part of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize team at The Journal and broke the story of Steve Jobs’ liver transplant with a colleague.
“Through it all, I’ve championed women advancement in the newsroom,” said Lublin, who is sometimes mistaken as a subscription sales person when she calls sources.
